Are you or a loved one in a nursing home, assisted living facility, adult day center, or receiving care at home? If you have questions or concerns about your care or rights, our advocates (Ombudsman) can help. We offer free, confidential information and support regarding your rights and benefits.
The Span Center’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for residents of long-term care facilities in the City of Richmond and the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and Powhatan. Our Ombudsmen help residents and their families by addressing concerns and protecting residents’ rights in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Services Include:
- Acting as a link between residents and those responsible for their care
- Receiving and addressing concerns related to financial, social, or family issues
- Offering information about residents’ rights, government benefits, and other relevant assistance
- Providing advocacy and support for residents’ rights and quality of care
- Assisting families in voicing concerns and connecting them to community resources
- Raising awareness of older persons’ rights and providing training for long-term care providers
