Volunteering

Volunteers are essential to The Span Center’s mission. We offer short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities that support a variety of initiatives. Whether you’re interested in office administration or working directly with older adults, we can match you with a role that fits your skills and passions.

Here are some of the ways you can make a meaningful impact:

  • AmeriCorps Seniors

    We also collaborate with AmeriCorps Seniors, a network of volunteers dedicated to helping older adults through tutoring, mentoring, elder care and disaster relief. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
  • Clerical Assistant Volunteer

    Provide administrative support, including filing, data entry, mailing, and answering phones.
  • Healthy Living Leader

    Co-facilitate workshops for people with chronic conditions. Ongoing commitment and background check required.
  • Matter of Balance Coach

    Co-lead fall prevention workshops for individuals concerned about falling. Minimum one-year commitment and background check required.
  • Public Guardian Volunteer

    Assist indigent and incapacitated individuals by visiting them and handling administrative tasks. Minimum one-year commitment and background check required.
  • TeleBridges Volunteer

    Offer friendly reassurance through regular phone calls to seniors. Minimum one-year commitment and background check required.
  • VICAP Volunteer

    Counsel seniors on Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance issues. Minimum one-year commitment and background check required.
  • Volunteer Money Management

    Help low-income seniors manage finances and pay bills. Minimum one-year commitment and background check required.
