Ongoing Education

The Span Center offers free health and wellness classes so you can stay healthy, active and informed. The evidence-based programs are designed to help older adults manage chronic conditions, improve overall health and live life to the fullest. Spouses and caregivers are also welcome to participate in any or all of our programs. Programs offered include:

  • Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP): A 6-week workshop for managing chronic health conditions through exercise, nutrition, medication and communication with healthcare providers
  • Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP): Practical tips for managing diabetes symptoms, stress and emotional challenges
  • Chronic Pain Self-Management Program (CPSMP): Strategies for handling pain, frustration and fatigue while balancing activity and rest
  • Walk with Ease (WWE): Arthritis Foundation program to help participants start a walking routine, tailored to individual needs and abilities
  • A Matter of Balance: Award-winning program designed to improve strength, balance and reduce the fear of falling 
  • Tai Chi for Health: A gentle, slow-moving exercise to improve health, well-being and mental relaxation
  • Mental Health First Aid: Training to recognize and respond to mental health and substance use issues, connecting individuals to care
